Art Classes

Drawing Course the French Academy Way.

My inspiration for this course comes from teachers I’ve had at the Academy and my travels to Paris and copying at the Louvre.

Drawing Course the French Academy Way is preparation for drawing & painting the figure model. This class is designed to guide the beginner, and inspire the experienced artist in a time honored process that yields amazing results. The Lanteri Book, “Modelling and Sculpting the Human Figure,” has basic clay human forms that students will create. Through exercises from “Planes of the Head,” an understanding of light and it’s effect on planes in space is accomplished. Hilary will lecture and demonstrate the foundation skills of measuring, proportion, anatomical landmarks, line and values. The students will receive guided instruction that will prepare them to attend any other figure drawing session with a model. Hilary will be utilizing “Drawing Course” by Charles Bargue. This process of drawing sets up great habits for the other class offered in Orinda, Painting with Oils and Acrylics.
